Fort Laurens

Ohio’s only American Revolution fort, Fort Laurens was built in 1778 as a wilderness outpost. Today it is a museum that commemorates the frontier soldiers who manned this post. The Friends of Fort Laurens are currently raising funds to build a replica of the original fort.

Ohio and Erie Canal Towpath Trail

Connecting trails through Cuyahoga, Summit, Stark, and Tuscarawas counties. Explore hiking and biking trails on the Erie Canal towpath. Bike rental and canoeing available.

The Canal Diner

Located in historic Bolivar, Ohio at 157 Canal Street is the Canal Diner. This is where the locals eat so that tells you something. Home-cooked meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Their pies and bread are homemade on the premise. Enjoy good food and friendly staff. Canal Diner is closed on Monday. Open Tuesday through Saturday from 7:00 am - 9:00 pm and Sunday 8:00 am - 2:00 pm. You will not be sorry you stopped in.

Towpath Tavern

Towpath Tavern has a full menu and a bar. Specials are posted daily on their Facebook page. The food is good and plenty you will not go away hungry. Their ribs are to die for. Don’t take our word for it - try some! The Towpath has inside and outside dining. Entertainment with local bands is outside on the patio.

Sublime Smoke fine BBQ and Craft Brew is located at 110 Water Street Bolivar, Ohio. Located in a beautifully restored historic building Sublime Smoke has a mouth-watering menu with different specials daily and you can get a brew here too. Along with spacious inside seating, they have an awesome covered patio with tables, chairs, and picnic tables. Open Tuesday through Saturday from 11:00 am-9:00 pm. Truly authentic woodfired BBQ.
