Welcome to Garver House Bed and Breakfast
Nestled in the quaint village of Strasburg in Tuscarawas County, Ohio, our B&B, a foursquare colonial built in 1902, retains the charm of a bygone era with the modern amenities that today’s travelers expect.
The Garvers, a prominent family in Strasburg, Ohio, were the owners of Garver Brothers World’s Largest Country Store. Construction of the house lasted two years, back in the early 1900s, and when you enter the front door you can see why. The original hardwood floors are still intact. All the floors on the first floor have a unique border design that is different in each room. This house shows attention to detail that is not found in homes today.
Five original stained glass windows are located in the dining room, family room, one upstairs bedroom, a back stairway, and the grand stairway. The stained glass work in the grand stairway is awesome; at seven-by-five foot, it looks beautiful from outside of the house when lit at nighttime. Leaded glass windows surround the original oak front door and are found in the bathroom of the Strasburg Suite. The home also features four fireplaces including one in the kitchen and one in the Zoar Village Room. Pocket doors separate the living room and dining room if needed and another set of pocket doors close off the foyer from the family room. Located in the side yard is a small stone and cement pool that is currently stocked with goldfish and is original to the home. A patio adjacent to the pool provides a relaxing place to sit, sip ice tea, gaze at the goldfish, and enjoy the fountain.
The Garver House Bed and Breakfast truly reflects the fine craftsmanship of the early 1900s. Come and visit the innkeepers Al and Natalie. They are happy to share the history of the house and the Garver family.
