This year, the Zoar Village turned 200, but it doesn’t look a day over 29.
The celebration began March 26th with an afternoon of food, history and music at Kent State’s Performing Arts Center in Tuscarawas. Even with the birthday gala behind us, there are still more celebrations in store for Zoar.
Maifest, May 20 – the reopening of the Bimeler House as it makes its debut as a public art gallery. Additionally, Zoar will be designated as a National Historic Landmark with German food and beer to follow.
Zoar Harvest Festival, last weekend of July – the Number 1 House museum will reopen and a new exhibit will premiere.
Centennial Celebration, August 12 – join in on kite flying, canal-boat racing and historical reenactments.
The Founders Celebration, October – a concert by the Tuscarawas Philharmonic Orchestra, Separatist church service and presentations by scholars and historians will take place.
Whenever you decide to visit Tuscarawas County, be sure to check out the birthday celebrations in Zoar.
